Jamar Thrasher is a Pittsburgh native. He graduated from the Pittsburgh High School for Creative and Performing Arts where he studied the literary arts. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2011 with degrees in political science and communication. In 2012, while a graduate student at Carnegie Mellon University, he founded Kennedy Blue Communications, a communications firm with a focus on youth organizations and initiatives. Jamar is currently working on several literary projects, including a co-authored project highlighting people from Pittsburgh's East End neighborhoods and a project about fatherhood and parenting. In his free time, Jamar enjoys spending time being a contributing writer to several media outlets, creating music, and spending quality time with his young daughter Kennedy.
